Cross Country Sport Touring Trip: Day One & Two Escaping Florida

This is real, this is actually happening. I left my home on Wednesday afternoon of March 2nd, and I couldn't help but feel as though I would simply be back in a few hours. It really didn't set in that I was embarking on a trip that would take over a month to complete, filled with incredible moments an challenges.

As I hugged Josefina goodbye, I remembered to always make safety my priority, with full head to toe gear, decked out in my high-vis covers, I was as ready as I'd ever be.

The trip to Orlando where I'd spend my first night was non-eventful. After-all the Florida turnpike offers a speedy straight shot on extremely well kept roads at the expense of tolls every quarter of a mile and a boring monotonous route.

It got dark out and I quickly realized that the Z1000's halogen headlamps do not make for confident nighttime riding on unlit interstates. It especially did not instill confidence in me when I saw friendly deers grazing along the highway shoulders; I thought to myself "please don't f***ing run onto the road, PLEASE!"

Sure enough I'd make it safe and sound in what feels the Dallas of Florida, Orlando. If you haven't yet visited Orlando, it can be summarized most famously by the parks which generate millions of visitors per year. Keeping with the theme of imaginative and curated theme parks, Orlando feels as though people sat around a board room in the 1950's and designed a city to fit the narrative at the time. "The people will live here, the parks will be placed here, the women will shop here, and the men will work there." As a result, the car-dependent city feels a bit.... plastic.

In any event, my personal quarrels with the city were more than made up for with the incredible hospitality I received from my longtime friend Lucas and his incredible partner Tiffany. You guys are awesome thanks again for having me!

We had some food at Teak Neighborhood grill where I ordered a buffalo chicken flatbread pizza: just what my body needed after a quick 300 mile trip on the bike. The next morning we all worked in their apartment, I took some meetings, and did some yoga for my back. Lucas whipped up some lunch which I low key could eat every day for the rest of my life and I'd be happy about it! Oven baked salmon, rice (Brazil Pô!), mushroom Alfredo sauce, and lemon dressed broccoli *Chefs Kiss*.

My Cross Country Sport-Bike Road Trip Day 1 & 2

And so it begins! Starting in just 3 days I will embark on my cross country road trip. I will embark from the Sunshine State and home of Miami Florida and touchdown in the Golden State, specifically sunny Los Angeles California, a real coast-to-coast adventure.

This is my first time doing any serious touring on any motorcycle, let alone my 2008 Z1000. Like most, I've done some day trips here and there but never challenged myself to a multiple day journey. Much less, do I have experience traversing the entirety of the continental United States on two-wheels.

If you're familiar with GV Motoring you may know that my fiancee and I did a cross country journey in the summer of 2020 in our 2000 Jeep Wrangler TJ in Solar Yellow. Much like that journey, I plan to document my travels via video, photos, and this time around - words via this blog.

There are countless online platforms to keep track of, and it can get overwhelming. In this digital day and age it is every business's responsibility to make sure they have a solid online presence.

We have developed our top five online platforms to to sell a used car quickly.

Youtube

You will quickly realize that it doesn't have to be as complicated or overwhelming as it may sound. But you SHOULD be making sure you are taking quality photos. We have included our definitive Automotive Photo eGuide.

1. CarGurus

Yes, we know - you're probably already on CarGurus. We can't express how important it is to have your presence on CarGurus.

It has changed the way consumers search for used cars. Many people buying a car don't have the slightest clue about the used car market and with the price analysis tool and quick facts laid out in a clean format - CarGurus is the leading place to list your car. You will generate leads from people in a nearby radius, and who else is going to buy from you?

2. YouTube

Now is your time to let your personality shine. YouTube is the go-to social media platform for all things automotive. There is no source more sought out for reviews, how-to's, and first hand experience sharing for cars.

Building a following on YouTube will have your potential clients getting insight in your style. We suggest making reviews and walk through's of cars for sale. Even if someone in a different state is watching, you will be making a name for yourself online and building trust with your leads, effectively making you part of a community.

3. Craigslist

Want to target people in your area? Much like CarGurus, people in your local range will be browsing craigslist for a good deal on a car. Many people here are looking for private listings, but if you can develop trust with a non-aggressive post, you can guarantee that people will click on your listing, and hopefully ask for more information.

4. Facebook

No, you won't be getting into arguments about politics here. Facebook is the most used social media platform on earth. It has users of all ages. While Facebook isn't as captivating with youth and younger generations as other platforms may be - it is very popular with adults and your target market.

Google will also be happy to see you on Facebook and you will be more likely to come up in searches for "Car Dealers Near Me". Stay consistent and always respond to questions on facebook.

5. Instagram

We're going to be honest, you won't sell a car on instagram. But much like YouTube, you will build an online following on instagram where you can showcase your listings and let your creative side flow. You can target ad's for people in your area at an affordable rate, build a following for free, and continue to expand on your online presence.

Facebook and Instagram have linkage features so you are generating content for two platforms with a single post! Meaning more eyes on you for less work. The Automotive section on instagram is one of the most abundant and people love scrolling by and will recognize your name for all the sweet photos you take.
